Therapy

Therapy is a space to explore and understand your story—your patterns, perceptions, and past experiences that may be creating more disruption in your life than you’d like. While this work can be challenging at times, it offers meaningful insight and the opportunity for lasting change.

Most clients come to therapy with specific concerns impacting their day-to-day lives and are looking for practical, effective support that helps them move forward. I work best with people who value depth and intention and want meaningful results rather than open-ended therapy without direction. The goal is not endless sessions, but focused work that allows you to return your energy to a full, engaged life.

In my practice, therapy is approached as healing work. We begin by creating stability and relief, then gradually address the underlying patterns and root causes contributing to distress. This process can feel intense at times, but it allows for real integration—so you’re no longer organizing your life around avoiding triggers or managing symptoms alone.

I take a holistic approach, working with both the mind and body to support the nervous system and promote healing. I integrate evidence-based approaches including CBT, mindfulness, polyvagal-informed work, and EMDR. When appropriate, we may also explore lifestyle factors such as nutrition, supplements, or lab referrals, as emotional and physical health are often closely connected.

I work with clients who want to better manage stress, reduce anxiety, and heal unresolved trauma so they can move through life with greater clarity, resilience, and ease.

I see a limited number of clients and am currently accepting new clients on a private-pay basis. Therapy is available in person in Boise and via telehealth throughout Idaho.

FAQ's

1Do You Take Insurance?
Kama Hurley is in-network with a limited number of insurance carriers. You are responsible for confirming your insurance benefits and are responsible for paying at the time of service.
2What if you are out-of-network?
Most plans include out-of-network coverage. You will need to pay the fee at the time of service, and then I can issue you a superbill which you submit to your insurance for reimbursement.
3Is there a downside to using insurance?
Insurance does require a medical diagnosis and medical necessity in order for them to cover services. Not everyone qualifies for a mental health diagnosis or medical necessity and not everyone wants a mental health diagnosis as part of their medical record. Insurance reserves the right to access your notes and treatment plan and can dictate the course of treatment. Certain medical diagnoses will prohibit your ability to access certain services like life or disability insurance. Please discuss this with your provider if you have any questions.
4Can I schedule online?
Once you are an existing client you will have access to my calendar and can schedule and reschedule appointments.
5I scheduled an in-person appointment and need to change it
You can change your type of appointment from in-person to Telehealth up until your appointment time. Simply message me and I will update it. If you have an in person appointment and are possibly sick, please contact me so I can change your appointment to a video session.
6What is your cancellation policy?
I ask for as much notice as possible to reschedule so I can offer someone else that time. You can cancel and request new appointments online. There is a 24 hour cancellation policy. If you need to cancel within the 24 hour window, please contact me to let me know. The full-fee may be charged for appointments cancelled with less that 24 hours notice or for missed appointments.
7Do you offer free consultations?
I offer 20 minute free phone consultations as an opportunity to ask questions and get a feel for my style. Please email me to schedule.

EMDR Intensives

For clients who want to move through something specific in a focused, condensed way, I offer EMDR intensives: a single extended block of deep work that can accomplish what weekly therapy often stretches over months. Intensives include preparation and integration, and are a separate service with their own structure and pricing.
