Therapy

Therapy is a space to explore and understand your story—your patterns, perceptions, and past experiences that may be creating more disruption in your life than you’d like. While this work can be challenging at times, it offers meaningful insight and the opportunity for lasting change.

Most clients come to therapy with specific concerns impacting their day-to-day lives and are looking for practical, effective support that helps them move forward. I work best with people who value depth and intention and want meaningful results rather than open-ended therapy without direction. The goal is not endless sessions, but focused work that allows you to return your energy to a full, engaged life.

In my practice, therapy is approached as healing work. We begin by creating stability and relief, then gradually address the underlying patterns and root causes contributing to distress. This process can feel intense at times, but it allows for real integration—so you’re no longer organizing your life around avoiding triggers or managing symptoms alone.

I take a holistic approach, working with both the mind and body to support the nervous system and promote healing. I integrate evidence-based approaches including CBT, mindfulness, polyvagal-informed work, and EMDR. When appropriate, we may also explore lifestyle factors such as nutrition, supplements, or lab referrals, as emotional and physical health are often closely connected.

I work with clients who want to better manage stress, reduce anxiety, and heal unresolved trauma so they can move through life with greater clarity, resilience, and ease.

I will be working remotely for the spring of 2026. I plan to be offering in office sessions again starting in May. I am only accepting new clients by referral at this time.

FAQ's

1Do You Take Insurance?
Kama Hurley is in-network with a limited number of insurance carriers. If you have insurance and would like to bill it, you should call your insurance company and ask if Kama Hurley is an in-network or out-of-network provider, how much deductible you will need to pay before they begin to cover services, and how much your copay or coinsurance will be for out patient behavioral health counseling. Please confirm the address they have listed is 1043 E Park Blvd (older addresses may indicate an old registry in which Kama is no longer covered under).
2What if you are out-of-network?
Most plans include out-of-network coverage. Typically you will have a separate deductible, and then the insurance will cover a % once that is met (typically around 60%). You will need to pay the fee at the time of service, and then you have two options to submit this to insurance. I can issue you a superbill which you submit to your insurance, or I have partnered with Mentaya who can submit on your behalf.
3Is there a downside to using insurance?
Insurance does require a medical diagnosis and medical necessity in order for them to cover services. Not everyone qualifies for a mental health diagnosis or medical necessity and not everyone wants a mental health diagnosis as part of their medical record. Insurance reserves the right to access your notes and treatment plan and can dictate the course of treatment. Certain medical diagnoses will prohibit your ability to access certain services like life or disability insurance. Please discuss this with your provider if you have any questions.
4Can I schedule online?
YES! Simply click the "Book Now" link above. Choose the office location (in person) or "Video Office" (Online/Phone). For phone appointments, please schedule in the "Video Office" and email me that you would like to meet by phone. Watch your email to see if your appointment was accepted. This email will contain a link to the client portal to fill out paperwork(if any).
5I scheduled an in-person appointment and need to change it
You can change your type of appointment from in-person to Telehealth up until your appointment time. Simply message me and I will update it. If you have an in person appointment and are possibly sick, please contact me so I can change your appointment to a video session.
6What is your cancellation policy?
I ask for as much notice as possible to reschedule so I can offer someone else that time. You can cancel and request new appointments online. There is a 24 hour cancellation policy. If you need to cancel within the 24 hour window, please contact me to let me know. The full-fee may be charged for appointments cancelled with less that 24 hours notice or for missed appointments.
7Do you offer free consultations?
I offer 20 minute free phone consultations as an opportunity to ask questions and get a feel for my style. You can book these through the portal, simply choose the video office, free consultation, and I will send you a form collecting some information and giving you a choice between video or phone. There are a limited number of these appointments available.
